Dear Parishioners:

  • Scripture Readings on this Sixth-Sunday in Ordinary Time presents us with the story:

Jesus doesn’t follow the norm of avoiding the leper; instead Jesus cures him.  Jesus felt the pain of the leper – was moved with pity – and so Jesus responded by easing the leper’s suffering.  Jesus took the pain of the leper into His own heart, just as Jesus took on the pain of our sins to His own heart and, as the psalmist states, took away his/our guilt.

  • This coming Tuesday, February 16 is Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday) that leads to Ash Wednesday, February 17, the beginning of the Lenten Season where as a Church, we imposed ourselves in a long 40 days of Lent with the intention of “returning to the Lord, God”, in repentance and worship through Words and Actions.
  • Ash Wednesday Masses will be at 11:30 AM and 7:00 PM at St. Gabriel and 10:00 AM, 3:00 PM (English) and 5:00 PM, 7:00 PM (Spanish) at Prince of Peace.

This Lenten Season will lead us to the Holy Week (March 28-April 3) with the Triduum (Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday).  Then, it’s to the great feast of EASTER SUNDAY, April 4.  Then, 50 days of Easter Season will lead to the Feast of Ascension of the Lord (May 13- in U.S. Western Dioceses – moved to Sunday May 16)) and the Feast of Pentecost (May 23)the Birthday of the Church.

To make the Season of Lent and Easter, our parish will give you a “Black BookLenten Booklet” and a package of handouts both front and back for each week of Lenten and Easter to reflect and focus on Christ as we’re celebrating the Year of the Eucharist in our Archdiocese of Seattle.  The fruit of these reflections will be culminating on the Feast of Corpus Christi – The Body and Blood of Christ.

    • Candidates for Full Communion – Terry Bender (people who are exploring the Catholic Faith but have been baptized in another Christian Denomination) would normally be there, but due to Covid-19 protocol with limited attendance, they will not able to be there with the Archbishop.

As people who love “Football”, across the Country or even the whole world, there’s an incredible joy of winning the Super BowlCongratulation to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this year’s “Super Bowl LV” Champion.

Have a wonderful week in the Joy of the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Christ’s Peace,
Fr. Phuong Hoang
